Day 7: God does a reset
Today’s Reading: Genesis 7:1-24.
Even though it seemed like man was headed to ultimate self-destruction, God had a plan to salvage the situation. One reason why many struggle with the story of Noah’s flood is that they fail to read the whole bible, at least the main portions of the Torah, the History books, the wisdom books, the Prophets, and the New Testament. Indeed, one cannot discern what God was trying to do by just reading this one story. More often than not, the effect of doing that results in portraying God as disorganized, impulsive, easily angered, and uncaring.
My encouragement to you today is to be patient and read the Bible as a whole. If you come across areas that you wonder about, jot them down and continue reading and those questions will make sense as you read.
God always has a plan to redeem us. Sometimes, it can involve a lot of pain and even a reset on the world that we know and hold dear. But God knows best, and His plan is always best. Are you struggling with some reset right now in your life, or is it that you could do with one? If you can, share a brief of your situation or of how you can relate the Noah story to your life.
As you keep trusting in God for new beginnings, prepare yourself also for separation. We will see later on how Lot struggled with this and paid dearly for it.
